MAN

The German concern MAN is the world leader in the production of marine engines, which since 1923 has specialized in the production of internal combustion engines for use in power and propulsion systems for marine applications. MAN manufactures engines of all types and types of internal combustion engines for use in all types of ships, yachts and boats. Marine diesel engines are powerful, modern, efficient, environmentally friendly units. MAN offers a wide range of engines of the most popular class (high-speed diesel engines) for medium duty from 400 to 1500 hp, and heavy duty (250-900 hp) with high tractive effort. Marine power engineering requires the use of internal combustion engines to drive propellers or water cannons of the main shaft, as well as diesel-gear units, in which the main element is an internal combustion engine running on hydrocarbon fuel. Deck engine in the marine power industry is the main focus of ship designers, from yachts to heavy bulk carriers. The drive is used to power the ship electrically, provides pumping of water from the hold, provides a fire protection system, and, most importantly, enables the ship to run due to the main shaft drive. MAN DM833-900 series diesel engine for marine power generation with 900 hp shaft power. or 661 kW (according to DIN 70020), is a non-reversible high-speed marine diesel used in any marine energy system, from propulsion to power generation. Diesel is a piston internal combustion engine that operates on the principle of spontaneous combustion of atomized fuel from the action of air heated during compression. By design, it is a V-shaped six-cylinder diesel with an aluminum monoblock, and with a working volume of cylinders of 22.45 liters (volume of each cylinder 3.74 liters), using a super-compact layout with a total volume of 1.3 cubic meters. That with the power of 900 forces developed by a diesel engine, this gives an extremely high overall output of 700 forces per 1 cubic meter occupied.

 

 High overall power makes it possible to use the diesel engine to drive high-speed and light yachts and boats, or to use it to replace marine engines during the modernization and repair of the vessel, which will reduce the weight occupied by the DRA volume, or increase power by installing several MAN DM833-900 diesel engines. It is possible to double the tandem type of two diesel engines into a single power unit with a doubling of the shaft power.
